The passion for teaching runs in her veins. Susana Estévez, who is stepping down as ALSUM’s Technical Lead, now takes on a role that truly excites her: Education Consultant. Talking with Susana, it becomes clear that educating is not just a job; it’s a life mission. “I’ve been a teacher my whole life,” she admits, her voice full of pride and emotion.

In this new role, Susana will be responsible for advising on the planning, design, content definition, and oversight of the Association’s courses.

During her time as Technical Lead, she coordinated committees, organized forums, and led the academic agenda of the annual Congress, serving as a guide and reference in technical concepts. Her strength, optimism, and professionalism are reflected in every project she touched, and her legacy leaves an indelible mark on ALSUM.

She is a natural teacher who firmly believes that knowledge that is not shared is lost. Learning and the act of teaching are her life’s driving force, and just a glance at the sparkle in her eyes when she talks about her career reveals the depth of her calling. With great emotion, she recounts how dozens of professionals have benefited from her experience, each carrying with them a seed of her knowledge.

Today, her path is focused on what truly fulfills her soul: education. As Education Consultant, Susana will play a key role in the Association’s academic and training strategy—a role that fills her with pride and enthusiasm. “I love the business and the industry I’ve worked in all my life, but teaching is my passion. For me, it’s about leaving messages and a legacy for those I’ve had the fortune to meet,” she says, with a smile that reflects her passion for teaching.

For ALSUM, having Susana Estévez on board is far more than a professional privilege; it is having someone close whose educational vocation inspires and transforms the entire Latin American maritime community, day by day.
