Juan Guillermo Hincapié analyzed the role of logistics operators within the supply chain and how many of the risks they generate remain invisible to traditional cargo insurance underwriting models. He highlighted that the Latin American insurance market continues to focus primarily on physical cargo risks, while emerging exposures related to digitalization, cybersecurity, and new logistics platforms continue to grow.
He also pointed out existing coverage gaps affecting freight forwarders, 3PLs, 4PLs, and digital logistics platforms, as well as the low penetration of liability and cyber insurance products. These challenges represent both a vulnerability for the sector and an opportunity for insurers to develop more innovative and comprehensive solutions.
