Iata interpreta este cambio de tendencia como la señal de una posible e incipiente recuperación del comercio internacional y pide que vuelvan los vuelos de pasajeros para generar mayor capacidad ante el incremento de la demanda.
Zonas geográficas
Por zonas geográficas, en Asia y el Pacífico ha disminuido la demanda de carga aérea internacional un 6,8% anual, con la capacidad internacional también un 29,4% menos que hace un año.
En América del norte la demanda ha crecido un 11,7% anual, aunque, al tiempo, la capacidad internacional en esta zona ha retrocedido un 6,8% con respecto a hace un año.
En Europa, la demanda cae un 0,4% en comparación con el año anterior, mientras que, en idéntico sentido, la capacidad se ha rebajado un 19,9%.
En Oriente Medio, los volúmenes de carga internacional han ganado un 6% anual en enero, con la capacidad retrocediendo un 17,3% con respecto al primer mes de 2020.
Por otra parte, en Iberoamérica, la demanda ha disminuido 14,2% en comparación con el año anterior, mientras que la capacidad se ha desplomado un 30,7% anual.
Finalmente, en África la demanda de carga aérea ha disminuido un 21,1% en el pasado ejercicio, con la capacidad retrocediendo un 10,9% anual.

Geographical areas
Geographically, in Asia and the Pacific, demand for international air cargo has decreased by 6.8 per cent annually, with international capacity also 29.4 per cent lower than a year ago.
In North America demand has grown by 11.7% annually, although, at the same time, international capacity in this area has fallen by 6.8% compared to a year ago.
In Europe, demand fell by 0.4% compared to the previous year, while, in the same sense, capacity was reduced by 19.9%.
In the Middle East, international cargo volumes have gained 6% annually in January, with capacity receding by 17.3% compared to the first month of 2020.
On the other hand, in Ibero-America, demand has decreased 14.2% compared to the previous year, while capacity has plummeted by 30.7% annually.
Finally, in Africa, demand for air cargo has decreased by 21.1 per cent in the past year, with capacity falling by 10.9 per cent annually.
